Gina Downs established The Pet Nanny in 2001 and quickly became known throughout Philadelphia’s Art Museum/Fairmount/ Brewerytown area as the most professional, reliable and dedicated provider of pet care services. Since then, the company has grown to accommodate as many as 100 pet visits per day with 11 additional staff members on call and a full range of pet care services available seven days a week.
As the founder, Gina committed to providing the best possible services to her clients, whether it be single or multiple cat households, proud new puppy parents, highly active dogs, sick and older animals, or recent rescues in need of special attention. From initial consultation to actual daily care, Gina and the Pet Nanny team take a hands-on approach to getting to know both pet and owner and understanding individual needs.
In July 2023, Gina shared her plans to retire and sell the Pet Nanny walk and sit business to Pattie Roke, a former client and Pet Nanny team member. Gina’s transition is met with mixed feelings by many. However, her compassion and commitment to help animals has left the neighborhood with a service, Pet Nanny brand, and team who will proudly grow and service clients.
Pattie became the new owner of the Pet Nanny in July 2023 after many years of being a Pet Nanny team member and client. She is an active animal advocate volunteering, serving as a board member, fostering with rescues, rallying on behalf of animal welfare, and being engaged with the community.
Pattie has a passion for all animals and doing better by them within our local community. She is the proud adopter of Izzie and Bruno, and it was Izzie’s adoption that inspired Pattie to do more locally. She’s a board member of LIFE: lifesaving initiative funding efforts which provides resources to positively impact the lives of at-risk animals; a board secretary member of Women’s Animal Center, America’s first animal shelter; volunteers for the last decade at Philadelphia’s intake shelter; and recently finished serving on the East Falls Community Council’s Events committee.
In September 2020, Pattie moved to the East Falls after living over ten years in Fairmount. She joined the Pet Nanny team around the same time after a wonderful career in corporate human resources.
Pattie is thrilled to have the awesome responsibility to help and care for the animals of the Pet Nanny. She realizes she has very big shoes to fill as Gina has left an indelible mark on the neighborhood. She is committed to serving your needs & providing a professional service that you will love for decades to come.
